Q1 Accomplishments

Firstly, thank you to all our generous members and donors. Because of your continued support Network Time Foundation was able to accomplish great things in the first quarter of 2017. As a non-profit organization, it is all of you who help NTF produce and maintain open-source network time software vital to the infrastructure of our modern world. We look forward to sharing, even more, accomplishments with you next quarter.

Technical Milestones

  • NTF published ntp-4.2.8p10, a security update of NTP, on March 21st. ntp-4.2.8p10 includes 6 medium and 4 low-severity security fixes, along with 15 minor bug fixes and some small improvements.
  • Significant progress has been made with new Extension Field processing, which will allow NTF to integrate the work done on NTS (Network Time Security — the replacement for Autokey).



  • In March NTF began preparing for our third annual financial audit with Richard Brewster, CPA.
  • Volunteers brought several switches and servers online at ServerCentral in Chicago.
  • NTF added one part-time contractor, Koni Burrow (Social Media Manager).
  • Several new volunteers joined the organization.
  • Mark Graff joined our Board of Directors.
  • NTF conducted a survey to encourage input from members about improving NTF services and communications.



  • New and renewed Institutional memberships received from Meinberg, Microsemi, Facebook, Cox Communications & Nimbus/Alibaba Group.
  • NTF had fifteen new and renewal individual members and donors.
  • NTF applied to participate in the Combined Federal Campaign for a second year.

Becoming a Member of one or more Network Time Foundation consortia helps us better address your network time-related needs. Donations above and beyond membership, such as full and partial project sponsorships are also appreciated. All funding supports NTF-sponsored projects, such as NTP. As a result, you can rest assured that the world’s clocks are on time – all the time – ensuring you can trust your time and your data! After all, knowing the correct time isn’t always important – until it is!
