LinuxPTP 4.3 Released

June 06, 2024 by Dru Lavigne

Richard Cochran, Release Engineer for the LinuxPTP Project is glad to announce the release of Version 4.3 of linuxptp. It is available via download or by pointing your ftp client to anonymous@ftp.nwtime.org.

This release offers both minor bug fixes and substantial new functionality. Users are encouraged to upgrade. The most notable changes are as follows:

  • Common Mean Link Delay Service (CMLDS) (IEEE 1588-2019 Clause 16.6)

When a node runs multiple PTP instances with different domains, using CMLDS eliminates the need for redundant peer delay measurements.

  • Security Extension (IEEE 1588-2019 Clause 16.14)

The stack now implements the AUTHENTICATION TLV and supports “immediate security processing” which provides source authentication and message integrity checking
